A balanced diet is a meal plan that ensures we eat a variety of foods from each food group on a daily basis and in the right amounts. Each food group is supposed to provide certain nutrients to the body to promote good health. When the body is healthy, we are protected from illness and have the right amount of calories to move and work. Carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, vitamins, fats, and water must be contained in a balanced diet.
